PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are currently moving at a sluggish pace when it comes to updating their information on the Central Database Hub (Padu), with only around 6% of the targeted 30 million individuals having completed the process since its launch three weeks ago.
“We need people to update their profile in order for them to receive the proper assistance from the government,” said chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin (pic) of the Statistics Department.
With the updated information, he said Padu, which was launched on Jan 2, could serve its primary function, which is to channel targeted subsidies more effectively and prevent leakages.
As such, Malaysians are advised to update their particulars at Padu, Mohd Uzir said.
As of Jan 23, he said Padu has uploaded data on over 30 million Malaysians and permanent residents by integrating sources from public agencies such as the Employees Provident Fund and the Social Security Organisation.
“However, the data we obtained might not be fully updated as it was based on information received from 2021 until last year.
“As such, there is a possibility the status of the individual might change,” he told The Star.
The public can refer to the Padu website www.padu.gov.my to log in to update their details.
The deadline to do so is March 31.
Of the 30,076,018 people registered under Padu using administrative data, Mohd Uzir said 1.71 million individuals above 18 years old had updated their particulars on Padu as of Wednesday.
According to Padu, the highest registration in its system is Selangor at 5.9 million, followed by Johor (3.8 million) and Sarawak (2.6 million).
Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, in a circular dated Jan 17, instructed all civil servants to update their details by Feb 15.
During the launch of Padu last month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the system will help ensure that only deserving recipients benefit from subsidies and other forms of government aid.
Padu is expected to identify those in the higher income bracket as well as foreigners who are not eligible for aid, he added.
