MELAKA: The enhancement of entrepreneurship skills among youth will be a focal point of newly-elected Junior Chamber International Malacca City Entrepreneur (JCI MCE) president Gregory Ng.
“I will dedicate my efforts to organise entrepreneur enhancement programmes for youths and children and ensure JCI MCE’s outreach and impact to serve the deserving locals,” he said in an interview on Saturday (Jan 27).
He said he would organise a business incubation programme to inspire young entrepreneurs, especially those in start-up businesses. The programme would incorporate digitalisation, effective marketing, and business management skills.
“The programme aims to cultivate young entrepreneurs and help them create positive impact and growth,” he said.
Ng, a lawyer by profession, took over from immediate past president Tonmyz Ong See Wei during a ceremony on Friday (Jan 26) attended by Deputy Melaka State Legislative Assembly Speaker Kerk Chee Yee as the guest of honour.
Overseas JCI leaders from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia were also present during the ceremony.
On JCI MCE's outreach programmes, Ng said that it has also extended assistance to some 1000 underprivileged children by providing them with essential school items earlier this year and added that financial aid would also be given to students who need help.
He added that charitable initiatives will be continued and fortified under his leadership by working closely with local non-profit organisations.
Meanwhile, in his parting speech, Ong thanked all his members for their support and contributions in helping him produce programmes for local communities.
He said that it wasn’t easy for him to manage JCI MCE with 172 members, 50 projects, and one national programme during his one-year tenure, but he was able to be effective due to the overwhelming support from his members.
Ong said JCI MCE also had received 76 awards and executed several impactful programmes last year.
