Weak earthquake detected in eastern waters of Sabah


KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the eastern waters of Sabah at 2.11 pm on Saturday (Jan 27).

In a statement, The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the earthquake's epicentre was located at 6.2 degrees north and 118.4 degrees east at a depth of 10 km, which is 57km north-east of Sandakan, Sabah.

"There is no tsunami threat to Malaysia," read the statement. – Bernama
