Some Umno leaders have betrayed party's core values, says Isham without naming names

PETALING JAYA: A handful of Umno leaders have betrayed the party's core values by continuing to be over-tolerant towards its rivals and fellow unity government partners, says Isham Jalil.

In a Tiktok video shared on Saturday (Jan 27), the former Umno supreme council member accused a number of unnamed Umno leaders of becoming toothless.

“They either don't care about Umno’s fight anymore, have sold their pride, are naive, weak or just straight up betrayed the original fighting spirit and purpose of Umno.

“They claimed that DAP would never try to amend or question the Constitution but we can see that has already happened,” he said.

He also accused certain unnamed Umno leaders of becoming somewhat dictatorial by making critical party decisions without the mandate of its members which has further damaged grassroots support for the party.

“At this rate, Umno will lose all its remaining 26 parliamentary seats by the next general election.

“If that happens, then what will become of Umno? What will Umno’s next generation inherit?

“While I may not be an Umno member anymore, I still love this party as this is the party that my family and grandparents have all supported for their entire lives,” he said.

In early December last year, Isham was sacked from his position in Umno after he heavily criticised Umno for its decision to work with DAP following the former’s crushing defeat in the Kemaman parliamentary by-election in Terengganu.
