IPOH: The chemistry among Perak unity government components must be solid so that the people are confident it is “strong and sturdy”, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
The Mentri Besar said Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan must always work as a team.
“It is not just about the state-level unity convention held today (Sunday, Jan 28), but leaders from both coalitions must hold mini-conventions at the parliamentary constituency as well as voting district level.

“We must tell the people about the concepts within the unity government, our aims and intentions to ensure that the state continues to prosper with the well-being of the people as the utmost priority.
“As the Kota Tampan assemblyman, I have held a convention in the Lenggong parliamentary constituency,” he told reporters after launching the state-level unity government convention at Casuarina Meru hotel here.
Both Saarani and Perak Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa delivered speeches at the event.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will close the convention in the evening.
“Although this (his call to Barisan and Pakatan to work as a team) might sound a bit cliched, believe me, in today’s political context, it is a must.

“As leaders and supporters of the government, we must not only work as a team, but must be seen to be working as one,” he said.
He added that in today’s political ecosystem, overshadowed by narratives of division and differences in ideology, people not only want to see a government with a united vision, but one that shows unity in action.
“The people want to see a solid government standing with them in developing this state.
“It does not matter where or when, we must (always give the impression of) a strong, consistent and harmonious team, not one that is (divided) or whose members have separate agendas,” he added.
Mujahid told a press conference later that he would be organising a mini-convention in the Kerian parliamentary constituency soon.
“We want to show the world that unity is a reality, not just (a concept).
“It is important to reach the grassroots (and) explain our initiatives to them, and (convince them that) they should not blindly believe what is said by the opposition,” he added.
