Cops seize subsidised diesel worth RM175,000 in JB


JOHOR BARU: Police have seized some 81,400 litres of subsidised diesel worth about RM175,000 from the Plentong industrial area in Masai here.

Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said the arrests and seizures were made during an inspection at the location at around 9.30pm on Monday (Jan 29).

"Checks at the premises found three skid tanks and four IBC tanks which contained liquid believed to be 81,400 litres of subsidised diesel," he said in a statement here on Tuesday (Jan 30).

Comm Kumar added police also found five metered pumps, three pumps and a hose connected to several lorries at the location.

He said police also arrested four local men aged between 32 and 43 at the scene.

"Checks revealed that two suspects have prior criminal records," he said, adding that the total worth of seizures was more than RM920,000.

Comm Kumar said the case was being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961.
