PETALING JAYA: Congratulatory messages continue to pour in for His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on His Majesty’s ascension to the throne.
Britain’s King Charles extended his congratulations to the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong through the official X account of the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
“My wife joins me in conveying our warmest good wishes on the day you begin your reign in Malaysia.
“I look forward to working with you on ensuring that the enduring bond between our countries, and our families, remains strong, and to working together with you on issues which matter so much for our countries and the wider world,” he wrote.
King Charles said he hoped to tackle climate change together with His Majesty and looked forward to opportunities to celebrate the close connection that united both countries.
China President Xi Jinping also sent a congratulatory message to the newly-crowned Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“I am ready to have a friendly exchange with Sultan Ibrahim and advance China-Malaysia relations with a shared future. This will bring more benefits to the two countries for regional prosperity and stability,” he said in his statement.
Sharing a poster of the King and Queen on its X account, the United States embassy offered its congratulations.
“The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur wishes its heartiest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. #DaulatTuanku #Agong,” it said.
Other foreign missions that conveyed their congratulatory messages were the High Commission of Canada and the Finland Embassy.
The post by the High Commission also took the opportunity to thank and bid farewell to the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
In conveying its heartiest congratulations, the Council of Churches of Malaysia said it would uphold Their Majesties’ well-being in their prayers.
“May God shower His richest blessings upon Their Majesties and endow them with good health, wisdom and compassion in their reign,” said the statement.
“We hope that Their Majesties will continue to unite the people from the various races and religions so that everyone can live in peace and prosperity in our beloved country,” it added.
Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia also posted on its website wishing “Daulat Tuanku!” to the new King.
“Prayerfully, we wish the highest congratulations for the King and Queen,” said the blog post.
