Illegal sale of diesel thwarted, RM500,000 in subsidies saved

PETALING JAYA: Authorities have put a stop to a distribution centre illegally selling diesel here, saving the government about RM500,000 in subsidies.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry's Selangor chief enforcement officer Mohd Khairi Jamaludin said a raid was conducted at a warehouse by a police team from Bukit Aman at around 11.30pm on Friday (Feb 2) and the case had been handed over to his office for investigation.

He said the warehouse in Shah Alam was used as a distribution centre.

"Equipment used to transfer fuel such as a hose connected to a flow meter, were found there," he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 3).

Mohd Khairi said a total of 17 skid tanks, a lorry and several documents were seized.

"Some of the skid tanks were filled with diesel," he added.

He said three men were also arrested.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two were lorry drivers while the third ran the premises.
