KOTA KINABALU: A real estate agent has claimed trial to criminally intimidating a teacher and causing hurt to another at the Kota Kinabalu High School here.
The 49-year-old man confirmed his understanding with a nod when the charges were read to him before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie yesterday.
He pleaded not guilty to committing the offences behind the school basketball court at around 9.30am on Monday.
He was accused of uttering the words “kau jaga, kau juga akan saya jumpa juga” (you be careful, I will find you too) to a teacher and charged with voluntarily causing hurt to another teacher at the same place around the same time.It is believed he had committed the offences after his son called him to school because the latter had been caught smoking in the school toilet.
The teenager was expelled from school last year but was allowed to sit for his SPM examination.
During mitigation, state prosecution director Nahra Dollah applied for RM5,000 bail for both offences.
Counsel Lim Chun Yuan urged for a lower bail, stating that a bail is to secure attendance and not to penalise the accused.
He said the man has a son and an elderly mother to care for, and is the breadwinner of his family.
The court set RM3,000 and two local sureties for bail, and for the case to be mentioned on March 7.
The accused’s family, including his son, who were in court paid the bail.
