IPOH: There are 38 illegal immigrants yet to be recaptured from the breakout at the Immigration detention centre in Bidor, says Perak police chief Datuk Seri Comm Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
He said that 91 escaped detainees had been arrested as of Tuesday (Feb 6).
"The police caught 66 escapees while Immigration Department officers caught 25," he said in a statement.
On Thursday (Feb 1), 131 detainees, comprising 115 Rohingya, 15 Myanmar nationals and one Bangladeshi, escaped from the men's block of the depot during a riot.
Two were found killed in separate incidents along the North-South Expressway.
Comm Mohd Yusri said eight were recaptured on Tuesday.
He said the detainees were found in jungles near Jalan Kachu Tapah, near a rubber hub and Kampung Senta in Bidor.
"We continue to urge the public to cooperate with us to locate the escapees," he said.
Meanwhile, Tapah OCPD Supt Mohd Naim Asnawi said villagers had cleared some bushes near Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Kenoh to prevent detainees from hiding there.
"It was here where we found and caught 15 of them," he added.
