Padu sign-ups hit 2.69 million

BACHOK: A total of 2.69 million people have registered with the Central Database Hub (Padu), says chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin.

He said five states – Sarawak, Selangor, Johor, Perlis and Kelantan – recorded the highest registrations as of Tuesday, since the system was launched on Jan 2.

“A total of 191,078 or 15% of Kelantan residents registered under Padu.

“High registration was also recorded in Johor, with 270,000 people.

“There was a high registration of over 100,000 people in Perlis, Sarawak and Selangor,” he told a press conference after reviewing the Padu registration process at the Digital Economy Centre (PEDi) in Mahligai here yesterday.

Also present was Kelantan Statistics Department director Fareza Mohamed Sani, Bernama reported.

Mohd Uzir said that based on records, his team is confident that the target of three million registrations could be reached soon.

“Padu registration will be open until March 31, and based on the work carried out, we are confident that there will be increased awareness about the system and registrations will continue to rise.

“I can see a rise in registration numbers as those who have done so will pass on information to others,” he said.
