KUALA LUMPUR: Concessionaire ANIH Bhd has issued a proposed Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for reference and guidance of all KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) users during the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

These advisory aims to ease traffic congestion and facilitate more efficient and comfortable journeys starting today until Feb 13.

An increase in traffic to the East Coast is expected from Thursday evening until Saturday.

Traffic congestion heading westbound is anticipated on Feb 12 and 13. The estimated traffic volume over the six days is projected to be 1,054,000 vehicles on the KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and 423,000 vehicles on the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1).

This represents a 75% increase in traffic on the KLK and a 57% increase on the LPT1 compared to the average daily traffic.

"In anticipation of increased traffic and to ensure smooth traffic flow along the KLK and LPT1, ANIH Berhad has made preparations focusing on toll Operations, traffic management, highway patrols, and facility management," says ANIH Bhd chief executive officer Imran Gulcharan Abdullah.

At the same time, ANIH Bhd has taken proactive steps by increasing personnel by 20%, including traffic control teams for patrol, and assistance purposes.

Additionally, 156 RELA members have been deployed to manage and control traffic flow at toll plazas, rest stops area, and laybys, which are also expected to be congested.

"The festivity of this celebration is heightened with the additional holiday, which indirectly encourages more people to take advantage of it.

“Therefore, the TTA provided can be referenced on our official social media for travel planning," Imran explains after distributing CNY joy packs to highway users at the Gombak Toll Plaza.

This corporate social responsibility initiative by the concessionaire aims to enhance the festive atmosphere while ensuring highway users receive essential safety guidance during this extended holiday period.

Senior management provides on-ground information, further emphasising our commitment to prioritising the safety of all users.

Highway users are reminded to prioritise their safety and that of others by practicing responsible driving.

They are encouraged to stop at Rest Services Areas (RSA) or laybys when necessary and adhere to road signs, speed limits, and instructions from highway personnel to ensure the safety and comfort of all.

For up-to-date information, road users are encouraged to follow the official Facebook account @Lebuhraya Pantai Timur and X (Twitter) account @LPTTrafik, as well as the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), @llmtrafik.

In the event of an emergency, contact LPT-Line at 1-700-818-700 or the Malaysian Highway Authority hotline at 1800-88-7752.
