HONG KONG pop diva Sammi Cheng had to cut short her holiday in Hokkaido, Japan, after learning that her mother, who is in her 80s, had been admitted to the hospital, reported China Press.
She took a flight back to Hong Kong, shortening her trip to one day instead of nine.
It was her first trip to Niseko, Hokkaido, and her first overseas vacation after four years.
“Unexpectedly, after arriving that night, I received a call from my sister, who told me about my mother’s health.
“She had to be hospitalised for treatment for a lung-related illness. The next day, I was still feeling uneasy. That’s when I decided to end my trip and book a flight back to Hong Kong.
“The nine-day trip was shortened to one,” said Cheng, who lost her father more than three years ago.
Most netizens said that her decision was the right one, with some comments reading, “Family must come first”, “Be a filial daughter; you can travel whenever you want. Must take good care of your mother.”
Previously, in her social media post on Tuesday, Cheng said she decided to go abroad for leisure before starting work.
Cheng said she had recovered in early January after feeling inexplicably tired after suffering from Covid-19.
