Cops seize over 15kg of ganja in Bukit Beruntung, four arrested

KUALA KUBU BARU: Police have seized over 15kg worth of ganja after crippling a drug distribution ring at Bukit Beruntung.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said a team from the Hulu Selangor Narcotic Crime Investigation Department arrested a 36-year-old sundry shop operator at the parking lot of an apartment in Bukit Beruntung at around 6pm on Thursday (Feb 8).

"We checked the car he was in and found 24 plastic packets containing 14kg of compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja.

"In a follow-up raid on the same day, police arrested three more men, including a foreigner aged 35 to 61, near a restaurant at Bukit Sentosa," he told reporters on Saturday (Feb 10).

He said one of the suspects was found with three grams of ganja on him.

"We then checked the pickup truck of one of the suspects and found an air gun and a magazine.

"One of the suspects then led us to a storage unit at the apartment in Bukit Beruntung where we found two 1.28kg packets of the same drugs," he said, adding that checks revealed that the drugs originated from a neighbouring country.

He said they believe the syndicate was involved in drug distribution activities at Bukit Beruntung and the surrounding districts.

"One of the suspects tested positive for drugs.

"The four suspects have been remanded for seven days to help with further investigations," he said, adding that the 15.28kg of drugs was worth an estimated RM43,710.

He said police also seized a pickup truck, a car and a motorcycle.
