Two more policemen arrested in Johor in connection to an extortion case


JOHOR BARU: Two more policemen have been arrested in connection to an extortion case involving some RM35,000, says Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar.

Comm Kumar said that the two suspects, who are 29 and 37 years old, were arrested on Friday (Feb 9).

"The eight suspects arrested earlier in connection with the case were released on police bail on Friday (Feb 9) pending further investigation.

"Two other personnel were also arrested on the same day to assist in the investigation and are being remanded for two days starting Saturday (Feb 10)," he said.

It was earlier reported that a police inspector and seven personnel aged 20 to 50 years old were arrested for allegedly extorting RM35,000.

The policemen were attached to the Seri Alam police headquarters narcotics department.

The eight suspects arrested earlier were previously remanded from Feb 6 until Feb 9.
