Rescuers recover bodies of teens drowned on fishing trip near Lumut


IPOH: The bodies of two 16-year-old boys, who drowned in a river in Segari near Pantai Remis, were recovered on Tuesday (Feb 13).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said the bodies were found at 12.40pm and 5.05pm.

“G. Sarath’s body was discovered at 12.40pm, followed by T. Eishwarpillai’s body at 5.05pm,” she said in a statement.

Earlier, rescuers recovered the body of another victim, 14-year-old Chew Darumaraj, at 9.05am.

“Sarath’s body was discovered between 200m and 300m from the last known location site and his body was stuck in a fisherman’s net.

“The third body was found floating about 100m from the site,” she said.

The three friends had gone fishing and swimming on Monday (Feb 12) at Sungai Sempit in Kg Tanjung Batu Segari in Pantai Remis.
