Tourist injured after fall while trekking on Mount Kinabalu


KOTA KINABALU: A Chinese tourist hurt his head after falling while trekking down Mount Kinabalu.

Chen Jiqing, 43, was believed to have slipped and fell near the Sayat-Sayat hut, which is the first checkpoint going down the summit, early yesterday.

“The fall led to his head being slammed on the ground, resulting in bleeding at the back of his head and ears,” said Sabah and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini in a statement.

“Auxiliary firemen, mountain guides and Sabah Parks search and rescue members had to carry Chen down after the accident.

“He was handed over to medical personnel on a waiting ambulance once they reached the base.”In another case, a woman in Beaufort district was allegedly beaten up by her 35-year-old husband after he suspected her of cheating on him.

The 34-year-old woman was believed to have been punched in the face and received death threats from her husband while they were inside their car at about 10am on Saturday.

Beaufort OCPD DSP Ismail Abdullah said the man allegedly got jealous and apparently started to hit his wife on her face and threatened to kill her.
