KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen years' worth of case items linked to police investigations have been disposed of following the completion of the legal process.
In a ceremony on Thursday (Feb 15) at the Alam Damai police station, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that the items disposed of were from cases from 2010 to 2023, involving 42,408 items from 429 investigation papers.
The items were seized by the Dang Wangi, Cheras, Wangsa Maju, Brickfields and Sentul police districts. They were worth about RM2.898 million, including RM24,106.45 in cash.
On a separate matter, when asked about death threats against lawyer Nik Elin Zurina Nik Abdul Rashid, Comm Allaudeen said no arrests have been made yet.
"Yes, we have identified suspects, but no arrests have been made so far," he said.
He added that once investigations into the threats were completed, the police would refer the matter to the deputy public prosecutor, who would decide the next move.
Comm Allaudeen reminded everyone that the issue of the Federal Court judgement was only regarding the jurisdiction of powers in creating laws between the Parliament and a state legislature.
"That is all there is as we have seen from the judgement given. So do not bring this issue in another direction," he said.
On February 11, police confirmed that they had received three reports from Nik Elin Zurina regarding death threats she had received on social media following her action in filing a petition in the Federal Court in relation to the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment (1) 2019.
