RM14mil to be used to upgrade 30 health and village clinics in Johor

JOHOR BARU: At least 30 government clinics in Johor will be upgraded this year, says state health and environment committee chairman Ling Ting Soon.

He said that the Johor government has identified 30 health and village clinics that need an upgrade so far.

"Last year, we upgraded 29 health and village clinics all over Johor with a budget of RM13mil. This year, we will upgrade at least 30 more health and village clinics with a budget of about RM14mil. We have identified 30 clinics and are now getting further details on upgrades needed at these health facilities,” he said.

Ling said this after attending the Harmoni Bersama (Together in Harmony) program in conjunction with Chinese New Year at Fo Guang Shan-Hsingma temple on Saturday (Feb 17).

Also present at the event is Johor unity, heritage and culture committee chairman K. Raven Kumar.

Meanwhile, Ling refuted claims in a viral video alleging that the Batu Bakar village clinic in Johor Baru is in dire condition and no longer in operation.

“The building shown in the video is the clinic's old quarters that are no longer in use. The actual clinic is located just next to the old quarters.

“The clinic is still in operation and has never closed its doors to the public. The clinic has also been upgraded previously,” he said.

He added that the state health department would apply to the Health Ministry for the old quarters to be demolished and replaced with a new one.

Earlier, a video made rounds on social media where a man showed a wooden building in dire poor condition, which he claims is the Kampung Bakar Batu village clinic.
