Man and infant killed in three-vehicle collision at Taman Klebang

IPOH: A 20-year-old man and his 11-month-old baby girl were killed in a three-vehicle pile-up near Taman Klebang Restu here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the incident is believed to have occurred on Saturday (Feb 17) at about 7am.

ACP Yahaya said the incident is believed to have occurred when the man, who was driving a sedan, had attempted to cross a junction.

"A luxury car, which was heading towards Ipoh from the Sungai Siput direction, crashed into the sedan.

"The collision caused the sedan to crash into an MPV, which was on a slip road near Jalan Klebang Restu," he said in a statement.

"The 20-year-old man was killed on the spot while the toddler suffered serious injuries and died while being treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

"The others who were involved in the accident were unharmed," he said, adding that both victims have been sent to the hospital's forensics unit for post-mortem.

ACP Yahaya said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

"Those with information or who witnessed the accident are to contact investigating officer Insp Muhamad Shahrul Rizwan Wan Ali at 013-621 8531 or go to the nearest police station to help with the investigation," he said.
