Food delivery rider killed in George Town after losing control of bike


GEORGE TOWN: Food delivery rider Muhammad Syakireen Zakaria was killed after he lost control and crashed into a divider on Tuesday (Feb 20).

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said they received a call at around 3.30pm of the incident along Jalan Bukit Gambir.

"The 27-year-old motorcyclist from Tingkat Sungai Rusa in Balik Pulau died at the scene of the incident.The initial investigation at the location found that the motorcyclist was riding from Bukit Jambul heading towards Jalan Yeap Chor Ee via Jalan Bukit Gambir.

"He lost control of his bike and crashed into the road divider. As a result of the impact of the collision, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics," he said.

ACP Razlam said a postmortem will be carried out on the victim.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
