AGHAST that his father did not find him a bride, a 25-year-old man slashed the former to death in a drunken stupor.Malaysia Nanban reported that S. Manimaran, from India’s southern city of Thanjavur, was upset because his father did not arrange a wedding for him.Apparently, he had dropped out of school after 10th grade and stayed at home.
He did not go to work, preferring to hang out with his friends until about two years ago when his father managed to get him a job as a labourer in Dubai through an agent.
However, he lasted only 10 months in that job.
Several days ago, Manimaran came home drunk and woke his father, who was asleep.
He demanded to know why the father had not found him a bride when his friends were getting married.Upon being told that nobody would let their daughter marry him because of his irresponsible ways, Manimaran became enraged and attacked his father.
He allegedly chased his father through the neighbourhood and slashed him multiple times.
