RM135.8mil set aside for remedial works in Negri

SEREMBAN: The Works Ministry has approved a RM135.8mil allocation to the Negri Sembilan government for remedial works this year, says Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The Works Minister said the funds will be used to carry out slope, road and bridge maintenance as well as the upkeep of federal buildings in the state.

Nanta said he had conveyed this to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun during a courtesy call on Tuesday (Feb 20), where they discussed road and related infrastructure issues in the state.

It was his first official meeting with Aminuddin since being made Works Minister.

"We are also considering additional requests from the Mentri Besar, which include the installation of smart traffic lights at several locations along federal routes in the state.

"Separately, the MB also voiced his views on the quality of work of the concessionaire appointed to carry out road infrastructure maintenance in the state, which he said was unsatisfactory," Nanta said in a Facebook post Friday (Feb 23).

He also stated his ministry's commitment to carry out nine federal road development projects costing some RM1.2bil in the state.

He said his ministry, in collaboration with the Malaysian Highway Authority, was holding talks with several agencies and companies on proposals to build three private highways in the state, including the Paroi-Senawang stretch.

Nanta said during their discussion, Aminuddin said the state government was also keen to be part of the MYJalan platform and application which came under the ministry's purview.

"MYJalan will surely come to Negri Sembilan," he added.

The MYJalan app serves as a one-stop channel for the public to report road issues by accepting all types of complaints, including those related to roads not maintained by the Works Ministry.
