KOTA KINABALU: Enforcement personnel here are focusing on compliance by contractors at construction sites amid the dry spell to curb dust pollution, among other issues.

Contractors at two sites in Sadong Jaya and Sembulan were ordered to clean up the areas during a recent inspection by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) enforcement team.

DBKK director-general Junainah Abbie said on Wednesday (Feb 28) that a compound notice was also issued to the contractor in Sembulan.

The notice under the DBKK By-Laws (Earth Works) 1987 was for failing to ensure cleanliness in some areas of the building site that saw food and drink containers thrown into the public drain.

"DBKK will carry out monitoring to ensure the drain is cleaned immediately," Junainah said.

She added that the management at the Sadong Jaya site was directed to improve the cleanliness of the adjacent road and to ensure the proper removal of construction materials and safety installations.

A total of 12 DBKK personnel from various departments were involved in the inspection.
