MCA still committed, 75 years later

PETALING JAYA: MCA will continue to be steadfast in championing the cause of the people, declares party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Marking the party’s 75th anniversary yesterday, Dr Wee said the day is a good time to reflect upon his predecessors’ vision and struggles.

“It was 75 years ago, on Feb 27, 1949, when history was made with the setting up of MCA. The spirit of our party founder, Tun Tan Cheng Lock, and other predecessors continues to live on in each of our members,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Wee and some party leaders and members took time off to raise the party flag in front of MCA’s headquarters at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the anniversary. He noted that the past 75 years have matured the party, with the organisation an experienced one that has gone through good and bad times.

“No matter what challenges and difficulties are before us, MCA will continue to stand tall and firm in being the voice of the people,” he added.

Dr Wee also said the party will continue its struggle to fight for the interests of people from all walks of life, regardless of their background.

The official party anniversary celebration will be held at Wisma MCA on March 9.
