"During the ministry's monthly assembly recently, I drove home the message of zero tolerance towards indiscipline and wrongdoing," he told reporters during an event at his official residence on Monday (March 4) night.
Saifuddin said there were several cases in the news recently about wrongdoings, disciplinary problems and corruption among the police.
"It is a huge issue as the force is an enforcement agency entrusted with ensuring public safety and security.

"When an infringement of the law involves (the police), it will attract the attention of the people," he said.
Saifuddin said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Deputy IGP Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay have already delivered the zero-tolerance message to the rest of the police force.
"The IGP has also gone down to state and district police headquarters while communicating with personnel on the ground such as mobile patrol vehicle personnel to ensure they adhere to the rules and regulations.
"Such action or omnipresence inspires the police force further," he said.

He also commended Ayob Khan and Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain for their firm hand in making sure the message gets delivered.
"They might be direct but that is the way of the police," he said.
Saifuddin said he also had the opportunity to remind the police senior leadership of their main duties and responsibilities during a recent retreat in Desaru, Johor.
"I see that the leadership has reached out to those on the ground. I believe this approach will help give encouragement and motivation to the personnel," he said.
