AN engineer had a narrow escape from an explosion at a cafe in India’s Bengaluru city in the nick of time, thanks to a phone call from his mother, Makkal Osai reported.
Ten people were injured on Friday in a bomb attack at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru, which is known as India’s IT hub.
Software engineer Kumar Alangrith said he had been going to the cafe daily for breakfast.
On that day, he was at the cafe minutes before the explosion.
His mother called him while he was having breakfast, so Kumar stepped out to take the call as it was noisy inside the cafe.
The cafe was rocked by the blast while Kumar was standing about 10m to 15m away, chatting with his mother.
Later, Kumar tweeted that he had never seen such horror in his life with so many people injured and crying out in pain.
He was grateful that his mother’s call had saved his life, he said.
According to media reports, a man had walked into the cafe and planted an explosive device there before leaving the place.
The motive is still being investigated.
