Missing teen with dwarfism found drowned in Kulai

KULAI: A teenager with dwarfism, who has been missing since Tuesday (March 5), has been found dead in a drain here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said the 17-year-old's body was found at about 12.30pm on Wednesday (March 6), some 4km away from where he was last seen.

"We received a call from the victim's father at about 9.40pm on Tuesday.

"Based on the investigation, the victim, who is a person with special needs, was playing with his friends in the drain in the rain before being swept away by strong currents.

"Upon receiving the information, a search and rescue operation with the fire and rescue department was launched immediately," he said in a statement here.

He added that, however, the operation had to be stopped temporarily at about 2am on Wednesday (March 6) due to bad weather.

"The operation was resumed at about 9am with assistance from the public and our K9 unit.

"The body was later found at about 12.30pm some 4km from where the victim was last seen," he said, adding that the case had been classified as sudden death.
