Keningau man dies after losing control of car, plunging into river

KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after he lost control of his car and skidded into a river along the Apin-Apin road in Keningau.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Hamsa Isnurdini said the victim, Jupilin Anggor, 49, was found pinned to the wrecked vehicle when firemen retrieved the car.

“We had to use a special tool to get the victim out of the car,” he said in a statement Thursday (March 7).

He said firemen received a call about the incident at 9.33pm Wednesday (March 6).

A rescue team led by fireman Leong Hoi Min was dispatched to the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead on site after his body was retrieved, said Hamsa.

Operations at the accident scene ended at 10.24pm. No other casualties were reported.
