KUALA LUMPUR: The Batman, known for his crime-fighting, will be unhappy that his symbol has been misrepresented by actual criminals.

Police crippled a drug syndicate and found four packets of drugs with the Batman symbol.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said police raided a hotel in Batu Caves on Feb 26 and arrested one man and seized over 3.4kg of compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja.

“We interrogated the suspect, and this led to the arrest of four other men and five women and the seizure of over 6.67kg ganja following a raid at a condominium unit at Gombak on the same day.

“The next day, based on intelligence received, we arrested another man near a condominium in Sentul and seized 276.5g of ganja,” he told reporters yesterday.

ACP Ahmad Sukarno said on March 2, police conducted an operation near a condominium in Sentul Selatan and arrested another man – as well as seizing eight packets containing 8.21kg of ganja.

“The packets also had the Batman and VIP symbols on them.”

He said the suspect got the drugs from a supplier from the east coast.

“We believe this syndicate has been active for between three and nine months,” he said, adding that the drugs were meant to be distributed in the southern region.

ACP Ahmad Sukarno said the 12 people had acted as runners for the drug syndicate.

“In total, we seized 18.56kg of drugs worth RM68,375.

“We are now working on identifying the remaining members and drug supplier,” he said.
