Zakat fitrah in Kelantan fixed at RM7 per person

KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maik) has set this year's zakat fitrah (personal tithe) rate for Muslims in the state at RM7 per person.

Maik president Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz, however, said any individual wanting to pay RM14 or RM21 based on the price of rice consumed was highly encouraged.

"Meanwhile, the Nisab (the minimum amount that a Muslim must have before being obliged to pay tithes) rate for zakat harta (property tithes) in Kelantan is at RM23,831 for the haul (one Islamic year) between Ramadan in 1445H and Ramadan in 1446H,” he said in a statement on Sunday (March 10).

Tengku Mohamad Rizam, who is also Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, said that zakat payments can be made through the Baitulmal counter services in the city and district mosques or through the Maik portal at zakat.e-maik.my. - Bernama
