Cops to summon individuals behind Women’s March


KUALA LUMPUR: The organisers of the Women’s March 2024 will be called in to assist in the probe into Saturday’s rally, say the police.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 15 of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 pertaining to the rally.

“The organisers will be called in,” he said when contacted yesterday.

On Saturday, the Women’s March 2024 saw participants walking from the Sogo shopping centre to Dataran Merdeka to call for gender equality and an end to gender-based violence.

The group also made demands for equal political participation at “all levels of decision-making”.In addition, the group pushed for the introduction of gender-equal citizenship laws.
