Cops hunting machete-wielding masked men who robbed family of RM1,000


BANTING: Police here are on the trail of four masked men who allegedly robbed a family of RM1,000.

Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor said they received a report on the incident at around 4.32pm on March 10.

"The complainant is a 26-year-old medical officer; she claimed that while she was home with her family, four men barged in armed with machetes," he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 13).

He added that they first entered the sundry shop owned by the complainant's grandmother.

"They then proceeded to go upstairs to the complainant's house.

"The suspects heard the complainant's mother scream and wake up her father, and they went back downstairs and fled the scene," he said, adding that the complainant claims they lost RM1,000 in the incident.

Supt Ahmad Ridhwan said they were now tracing the whereabouts of the suspects.

A video of the incident went viral, and an elderly lady could be heard pleading with the suspects.

In the 46-second video, the lady can be heard speaking in Tamil.

"We just opened the shop. There hasn't been any business yet.

"We won't even have any money yet. Why are you doing this?" she can be heard saying to the suspects.
