Jelebu stall trader burned by hot oil after parked car suddenly moved forward


JELEBU: A trader at a Ramadan bazaar here suffered burns after a car which was parked nearby with its engine running suddenly moved and crashed into one of the stalls, causing a wok containing hot cooking oil to tip over.

Jelebu OCPD Deputy Supt Maslan Udin said there were two young children inside the car when the incident happened.

“The driver had left the car outside the bazaar located in Kuala Klawang without switching off its engine.

“Suddenly, the car started moving forward and knocked into the wok containing the cooking oil,” he said, adding that a trader suffered burns to the back of his body, calf and left thigh.

DSP Maslan said the incident happened around 5.45pm on Tuesday (March 12).

He added the case is being probed under Rule 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulations.

He appealed to eyewitnesses to come forward and help the police in their investigations.
