Doctor lodges police report over poison pen letter defaming him


IPOH: A 43-year-old doctor from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here has lodged a police report regarding a poison pen letter he received and that had also gone viral on social media defaming him.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the report was lodged on Saturday (March 16).

He said according to their initial investigation, in the letter, the doctor and several staff were accused of carrying out several inappropriate acts especially against housemen working at the Orthopedic Department.

“The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code (Defamation), and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“Anyone with information concerning the case is urged to contact investigating officer ASP Fadli Ahmad at 019-250 0019 to help in the investigations,” he added.

ACP Yahaya also advised the public not to release any statements that are based on rumour, or are defamatory and could affect someone’s credibility.
