Cops quiz eight individuals in controversial socks probe

PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded the statement of eight individuals in connection with the controversy involving socks sold at convenience store chain KK Super Mart.

"As many as eight were called in and had their statements recorded at 12.30pm on March 19.

"Other witnesses related to the investigations will be called in to assist investigations," the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department said when contacted.

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that all the individuals involved would be called up to give their statements sometime this week.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain in a statement Monday said that a total of 42 police reports have been lodged involving the case.

The management of the store, during a press conference on Saturday (March 16) had apologised for its oversight in selling socks with the word “Allah" printed on them.

The vendor of the socks has also made a public apology, saying the goods were sold on a consignment basis and the company did not have any intention of disrupting public harmony.
