MAH Sing Group Bhd (Mah Sing) had recently donated RM80,000 to Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor to aid students in Batu Pahat who were affected by the recent flood in Johor.

The mock cheque was presented by Mah Sing’s chief executive officer, Property Subsidiaries, Benjamin Ong to Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abdul Rahim.

The donation will be distributed to 400 students who were affected by the recent flood in the form of cash vouchers.

Each student will receive a RM200 voucher to be distributed by their respective schools to purchase school uniforms and stationery.

“We are deeply saddened by the recent flood in Johor and our thoughts are with the affected communities,” said Mah Sing’s founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

He said as a socially responsible corporate citizen, Mah Sing has always been committed to supporting the underserved communities especially in the areas of education, health and well-being and community development.

“We hope our contribution will help the students to resume their studies with necessities after the disruption caused by the flood,’’ added Leong.

Hishamuddin expressed gratitude for the generous donation.

“We appreciate the support from Mah Sing, which will go a long way in helping affected students during these challenging times,” he said.

Hishamuddin hoped that more corporations would follow Mah Sing’s lead and contribute to the ongoing efforts to support education initiatives and help underserved communities in Malaysia and abroad.

Mah Sing and its strategic partner, Mah Sing Foundation, have been actively assisting underserved communities since 2005.

They have centred their efforts on B40 Malaysians through three key pillars: Education, Health and Wellbeing and Community Development.

In 2022, Mah Sing and Mah Sing Foundation had contributed more than RM872,000 and assisted more than 24 schools and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), impacting more than 10,000 individuals.
