Five nabbed for allegedly beating cop to death in Balakong


PETALING JAYA: Five men have been arrested for allegedly beating a policeman to death at a block of flats in Taman Impian Indah, Balakong.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the five suspects, aged between 19 and 35, were rounded up within the Taman Impian Indah area.

"Selangor CID Serious Crimes Unit (D9) personnel arrested the five suspects who were allegedly involved.

"They have been remanded for seven days to help investigations," he said in a statement on Sunday (March 24).

It was reported on Saturday (March 23) that police were looking for a group of men in connection with the death of a 34-year-old policeman at the flats.

The group was spotted near where the body of the policeman was discovered at about 3am that day.

Sources said police received a call after the victim was found lying motionless at the scene.

The victim, who had the rank of Korporal, was stationed at the Sentul lock-up.

Comm Hussein said the cause of death was identified as blunt force trauma to the head.

He urged anyone with information on the case to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Mohd Afiq Farhan Mohd Nor at 012-244 6768.
