Singer arrested for assaulting family member with metal rod


KUALA LUMPUR: A local singer has been arrested after he was alleged to have attacked his brother-in-law.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the complainant lodged a police report on Sunday (March 24), stating that a fight had occurred in a flat in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras.

"The complainant claimed the suspect had attacked him with a metal rod, leading to him suffering head injuries.

"Shortly after midnight on Monday (March 25), police arrested a 64-year-old suspect within the compounds of the Cheras police headquarters," he said in a statement.

ACP Zam Halim said the suspect has been remanded for four days until March 28 to assist in investigations.

He added that any form of violence was viewed seriously and that the case would be investigated thoroughly.
