KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will initiate proceedings on acquisition and development of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says its chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
According to Mas Ermieyati, the PAC decided to start proceedings over NIISe following the High Court’s decision to order the government to pay Prestariang SKIN Sdn Bhd about RM231.5mil for cancelling the National Immigration Control System (SKIN) in 2019.
She said the proceedings on NIISe will take place concurrently with the PAC’s proceedings on the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
For the NIISe proceedings, she said the PAC intended to call witnesses from the Home Ministry, Immigration Department, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), CyberSecurity Malaysia, SKIN and vendors.
“Terms of references will be given to the Home Ministry and the Immigration Department as preparations to provide the relevant information,” she told a press conference in Parliament on Wednesday (March 27).
For LTAT, she said the former chairman, former CEO and former senior strategic director will be called to attend the June 20 proceedings.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had said on Nov 21 that the government decided to terminate the NIISe contract for failure to fulfil obligations within the period stipulated in the agreement.
Saifuddin had said that about RM106.93mil was spent for the payment of user requirement provisions before the NIISe project contract was cancelled.
NIISe was developed to replace the existing Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs) that had been operational for over 20 years.
