Angry students chase, beat drunk teacher

A PRIMARY school teacher in India, who turned up in a drunken state every day, was chased and beaten with slippers by his students, Makkal Osai reported.

The teacher at a school in Chhattisgarh was known to turn up at school inebriated and for sleeping during lessons.

A few days ago, he was said to have scolded the students with vulgar words, angering them into throwing their slippers at him.

The teacher ran, got on his bike and rode away from the school with the students chasing after him with their slippers.

Videos of the incident went viral, triggering an investigation by the education department.

> A group of Malaysian-Indian doctors and nurses organised a free medical consultation camp for devotees attending the Pangguni Utthiram Festival at the Sri Marathandavar temple in Maran, Makkal Osai also reported.

The effort was led by Hospital Bera assistant director Dr Kailash Naven in conjunction with the 93rd festival at the temple, which was attended by over 100,000 devotees and visitors.
