Body of Tawau man attacked by crocodile found


KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 52-year-old man was recovered a day after he was attacked by a crocodile in a river near Tawau.

Zulkefli Sunan's body was recovered approximately two kilometres from where he was last seen by a Fire and Rescue Department team at about 1.31pm on Saturday (March 30).

A Department spokesperson said that Zulkefli's body has been sent to the police for further action, adding that a report had been lodged about his disappearance at 9.06am on Friday (March 29)

He had gone missing after he was attacked by a crocodile while crossing the Kampung Sungai Udin river using a bamboo raft to transport oil palm fruits.

A team of 17 from Tawau, Kalabakan and Umas fire stations travelled 45km to the location, and initiated search and rescue operations within 480 square metre radius on land and a-200 square metre radius along the river.
