Endau rep Alwiyah Talib injured in accident near Mersing


MERSING: Endau assemblyman Alwiyah Talib had to receive 19 stitches on her face after she was involved in a car accident here.

Mersing OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the incident took place at KM28 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mersing and was reported at around 5.30pm on Monday (April 1).

He said that Alwiyah and six other family members were traveling in a multi-purpose vehicle from Johor Baru to Mersing when the incident happened.

“We believe that her husband, who was driving the vehicle, lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the side of the road.

“Alwiyah sustained injuries to her chin and mouth and was sent to Hospital Mersing for medical treatment,” said Supt Abdul Razak.

He added that other family members were not injured and that the incident being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.

Meanwhile, Alwiyah’s special officer Muhamad Amerul Muhamad said she completed her medical treatment at around 8pm on Monday.

He said Alwiyah was resting after receiving 13 stitches in her mouth and six stitches on her chin and was given a nine-day medical certificate from April 1-9 and would not be able to make her scheduled appearances.
