THE committee of the Sentul Sri Nagamma Temple has urged the authorities to resolve the land issue facing the century-old temple, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The temple secretary, identified as Hariharan, questioned whether the now locked temple would ever be allowed to reopen.
The idols at the temple in Kuala Lumpur were broken last December by the developer who now owns the land the temple is located on.
When this issue came to light, MIC deputy president and Tapah MP Datuk Seri S. Saravanan intervened and made arrangements to hold talks with the development company.
“Certain other parties also said that they would help find a good solution to this issue, which gave us hope,” said Hariharan.
But the temple remains locked without any way forward.
The temple committee had visited a piece of land allegedly allocated for relocation but were shocked to see another temple already on that land.
“The Federal Territories Ministry and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall must intervene on this matter and ensure the 5,000 sq ft land allocated to the Nagamma temple is made available as promised,” urged Hariharan.
