Let's continue to build strong ties in Sarawak this Raya, says Deputy Premier


KUCHING: Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations transcend religious and ethnic boundaries, fostering social cohesion and harmony among all communities in Sarawak, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas (pic).

He said Hari Raya is a time when friends and neighbours, regardless of race and faith, bond with each other in celebrating friendship and solidarity.

"Just as during our other major celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak or Christmas, let us continue the practice of visiting the open houses of our relatives, friends and neighbours this Hari Raya.

"By doing so, we can enhance and strengthen our harmony, unity and the sense of belonging in developing Sarawak," he said in his Raya message on Tuesday (April 9).

Uggah said unity and harmony were vital in Sarawak's efforts to transform into a progressive and prosperous state.

He said the formulation of the post-Covid-19 development strategy was one of Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg's most important plans for Sarawak to become a high-income state by 2030.

"He has done much and I am confident that he is capable of taking us to greater heights in the months and years to come," he added.

Uggah also wished all Muslims Selamat Hari Raya on behalf of himself and his family.

"May this joyous occasion bring you and your loved ones abundant blessings, happiness and peace now and in the years ahead," he said.
