Overtaking cars and cutting someone off, especially on the highway can be risky and in some cases, frustration or anger may cause the situation to escalate.
The speed, adrenaline surge and rush to arrive at one's destination can lead to tempers flaring.
This in turn can lead to car chases, intimidation, tailgating and even accidents.
With the festive season coming up, the highways have been packed with travellers from all over the country heading to their hometowns or for a short holiday.
Were two cars seen driving recklessly on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway, eventually causing one of them to crash?
Verdict:
TRUE
A viral video showing the two vehicles alternatingly slowing down and overtaking each other after one car abruptly cut into the fast lane, almost crashing into the second car, eventually led to an accident.
The cars were seen slamming into each other a few times before one driver lost control and the vehicle flipped over.
The dashcam footage from a vehicle ahead captured the incident, with the driver then stopping presumably to check on the accident.
Bentong OCPD Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar confirmed the accident, saying police have the recording of the accident.
"The accident took place at around 10.15am on Sunday (April 7) at KM49.4 of the highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
"The footage was published on a news portal and we have carried out an investigation.
"The accident is believed to have been caused when a car driven by a 56-year-old man heading from Kuantan to Kedah with his 25-year-old son collided with another car driven by a 34-year-old man.
"The 56-year-old then lost control of his car and crashed into the left side of the road and flipped over," he said in a statement on Monday (April 8).
Supt Zaiham said the drivers, both locals, were driving negligently and recklessly before the accident.
"They were seen crashing into and provoking each other as each one was dissatisfied with the other's driving," he said.
The occupants of the crashed car were reported to have sustained light injuries.
