Seven held in Teluk Intan murder probe

IPOH: Seven people have been arrested in connection with a murder after a man with injuries on his neck and chest was sent to Hospital Teluk Intan by an unidentified individual.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the suspects, six men and a woman, were arrested in different locations in Teluk Intan on Friday and Saturday (April 5 and 6).

He said during questioning, the suspects aged between 25 and 45 admitted they were at the residential area in Langkap where the fight broke out.

“They said the fight was caused by jealousy, as the victim is believed to have disturbed the wife of one suspect.

“We are still looking for one more suspect to help in the investigation,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 9).

ACP Ahmad Adnan said police received a call from a doctor at the hospital at about 8.15pm on Friday informing them that the victim had been brought in unconscious with injuries caused by a sharp object.

“When police arrived, they checked the CCTV at the hospital’s red zone and found that a motorist sent the victim to hospital before leaving.

“Based on information from the public, we then made the arrests,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The seven have been remanded until Friday (April 12) for further investigations.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said police are looking for one D. Tanabalan, 42, whose last known address is 6 Ladang Degong Ratanui, Langkap, to help with the investigation.

“Those with information can contact investigating officer Asst Supt Shahrul Shamsudin at 05-623 3969 or 017-975 2668,” he added.
