KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims nationwide started off Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations with Solat prayers at mosques and suraus this morning.
In Kuala Lumpur, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, graciously attended the prayers at the Main Surau of Istana Negara, accompanied by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Cabinet.
In Perlis, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, performed the Aidilfitri solat prayers with over 1,200 congregants at Dataran Istiadat, Istana Arau, today, led by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) chief executive officer, Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.
Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, along with their children, as well as Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.
In Kedah, the Sultan of Kedah, Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, and the Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Maliha Tengku Ariff, graciously attended the prayers with the public at Masjid Zahir.
They were welcomed at 8.45 am by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, and over 3,000 worshippers who had come to perform the solat prayers, led by the Grand Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Mohd Naim Ahmad.
In Pahang, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah graciously performed the solat prayers at Masjid Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah in Temerloh.
Also present were members of the royal family, including the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
They arrived at 8.30 am and were welcomed by Pahang Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, before performing the prayers, led by the Grand Imam of the mosque, Ahmad Hakim Shamsuddin.
In Johor, the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, performed the solat prayers at Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar in Johor Bahru with over 1,000 worshippers.
Also in attendance were Tunku Temenggong of Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar; Tunku Panglima of Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman; Tunku Putera of Johor Tunku Abu Bakar and Tunku Puteri of Johor's husband, Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, as well as Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and state Exco members.
In Terengganu, the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, accompanied by the Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, and their four children, performed the solat with 3,000 worshippers at Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah Shah. The event was also attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
In Perak, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah joined worshippers in performing the prayers at Masjid Ubudiah in Kuala Kangsar. His arrival was greeted by Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, and several state Exco members and dignitaries.
In Kelantan , Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, accompanied by Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, joined thousands of worshippers for the 8.30 am solat at Masjid Muhammadi in Kota Bharu.
In Selangor, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin participated in the prayers with thousands of worshippers at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz in Shah Alam.
Accompanying them were the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, and Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, along with several other state government leaders.
In Melaka, the Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Asmah Abd Rahman, joined thousands of worshippers for the solat at Msjid Al-Azim in Bukit Palah. Also present were senior political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, and state Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture Exco, Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.
In Negeri Sembilan, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, accompanied by Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, performed the solat at Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir, Kuala Pilah, with over 1,000 worshippers.
In Penang, Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, performed the prayers with about 5,000 Muslims at Masjid Negeri Pulau Pinang this morning.
The solat dua rakaat and the sermon titled ‘Aidilfitri Yang Diampuni’ were led by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Datuk Mohd Nordin Samah, with about 5,000 worshippers who began arriving since 7.30 in the morning.
In Sabah, the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni, performed the solat with over 5,000 congregants at Masjid Negeri in Kota Kinabalu. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and several state Cabinet members were also in attendance.
In Sarawak, the Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Chief Minister Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, performed the solat at Masjid Jamek Negeri in Petra Jaya.
Despite the morning drizzle, thousands of Muslims turned up to participate in the prayers led by Chief Imam, Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
In Putrajaya, a survey by Bernama found thousands of worshippers gathering at Masjid Putra as early as 7.30 in the morning to perform the solat led by Chief Imam, Salahuddin Ghozali.
Meanwhile, in Labuan, Labuan Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, joined over 1,000 worshippers in performing the solat at Masjid Tanjung Aru.
