Over 1,600 accidents reported nationwide on April 9


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,631 accidents were reported nationwide on Tuesday (April 9), the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

In a Facebook post, the police also said that there were also 18 fatalities recorded.

While there were fewer accidents compared to 1,683 on Monday (April 8), there were four more fatalities.

Ops Selamat 22 began on April 8 and will conclude on April 13.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had urged those travelling back to their hometowns to plan ahead and be patient and responsible while on the road.

He also urged homeowners returning to their hometowns or going on vacation to notify the police so they can conduct regular patrols of their neighbourhoods.
