Mother, baby killed in accident with tanker lorry in Johor


KOTA TINGGI: A mother and her three-month-old daughter were killed in an accident at Jalan Tanjung Balau - Bandar Penawar here.

Penawar Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Azlan Mat Sani said they received a distressed call about the accident involving a car and a tanker lorry at 1.38pm on Friday (April 12).

"Upon arriving, we found a woman and a baby stuck in the vehicle. They were the front-seat passengers of the car.

"We managed to bring them out of the car with special equipment. They were later declared dead by medical officers at the scene.

"The bodies of the 28-year-old woman and her baby have been handed over to the police for further action," he said.

He added that the 30-year-old driver of the car, who is the woman's husband, was also injured in the incident.

"Their two other children, who are eight and five years old, were also injured in the accident.

"Meanwhile, the lorry driver, a 34-year-old man, was not injured," he said.
